During the 16th century in Mostar, in the Čaršija (carshiya ) there were more than 30 various types of crafts. They were predominantly grouped into esnafi (Turkish word for “guildsâ€) or guilds, which were arranged according to the types of professions after which even the streets (carshiyas) were named, bearing the features of distinct carshiyas.
In the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina the Roma (also called  Romani people) have lived here for more than 600 years. They arrived in the territory of today’s Bosnia and Herzegovina by the 14th and 15th century, and then adopted Islam as the majority confession during the times of Ottoman rule (15th-19th centuries).
The city of Mostar is well known for its many bridges, warm climate, untouched nature and friendly people. When visiting this picturesque place you do not need a big budget to enjoy yourself and make great memories.
