Saint Nicholas’ Day, observed on December 6 (in Western Christian countries) and 19 December (in Eastern Christian countries), is the feast day of Saint Nicholas.
St. Nicholas Day is a popular occasion for children in many parts of Europe because children usually receive gifts on this day. Some European cities such as Bari, Italy recognize St. Nicholas as the patron saint and celebrate with different activities such as gift-giving, parades, feasts and festivals.
The evening of December 5, our kids leave their shoes by the front door.  Then we’ll read a book about the historical St. Nicholas for story time before bed.

It`s the most wonderful time of the year which means it is time to get excited about the upcoming holiday shopping. Although the sales will start at the end of December, most of us will do the holiday shopping in the week before Christmas.
