In Bosnia and Herzegovina, traditionally Å¡erbet is served on a tabak with a tabakluk (table napkin). The girl who serves the Å¡erbet wears a napkin over her hand.

How is Å¡erbet made? It is made from fruit ice cream which consists of fresh or cooked fruit and its juice mixed together with lemon juice and sugar. Sometimes liqueur, vine or champagne can be added to achieve better taste. The fruit can be pineapples, cherries, oranges, apples, raspberries or blackberries.

There are records and writings of the legendary Evlija Čelebija (Evliya Çelebi), Turkih traveler and writer, who states that even in the Roman times, ice was brought down from the mountains in order to make šerbet drinks. It was the favorite refreshing drink for the workers in the villages as well as in the city.

Today when you travel to Western countries, popular sherbets are made of one or more of the following: rose water, sandalwood, bael, gurhal (hibiscus), lemon, orange, mango and pineapple.
