Most people say that traveling makes them feel alive. Meeting new people, places and adventures can be one of the most fulfilling life experiences.
Traveling alone can make you feel more independent but there are safety measures you should keep in mind.
Tour Guide Mostar brings best tips for every solo traveler…
- Stay safe
Without a friend by your side to watch your back, you are more vulnerable to criminals and scam artists, as well as simple health worries. Be your own best counsel. Trust your intuition, if something doesn’t feel right, don’t do go there.
Always carry with yourself a good identification ID and go out to publish places, avoid spending a lot of time at secluded small locations.
- Learn local language phrases
All of us have had those awkward moments when you travel somewhere and find yourself feeling confused and lost without knowing how to say a word in their language. You don’t need to be fluent in the language of the country that you are traveling to, but learning some key phrases makes a great impression.
If someone hears that you’re trying to speak the language, they will give you their respect and help. Â In case you have missed it, read our previous post – The 5 common phrases to know when traveling to Mostar.
- Plan in advance
Do some advance planning. You don’t need a detailed plan but you should know, for the first night at least, where you’re going to stay. Book your hostel/hotel before you leave. Always carry with you a map of the city and don`t forget to charge your cell phone.
- Join organized tours
Break up long trips with organized tours. You’ll enjoy the company of other travelers even for a few hours and a chance to let someone else take care of all the details.
- Keep your important items in one place
Always keep your most important items in the same place and check it several times a day.  Check your passport, wallet, camera and phone. Also scan your driver’s license, passport, and health card and email them to yourself and a friend or family member. If you lose your passport, it makes getting a new one much easier.
